Welcome To My Website!

After years of dreaming, months of preparation, and a couple painful vaccinations, I am finally ready to head to the wilds of Africa!

This website was designed so that I could keep in touch with all the people whom I love, while I am on this exciting journey.  Nobody likes group e-mails, so I will be updating the "Journal" part of this page, as often as I am at a computer.  I hear they are few and far between in Africa.  Please bookmark this site or add it to your favourites list, and return as often as you like.  I’d hate to come home to Canada to find everyone had forgotten about me!

In addition to the "Journal", there are links to current news in Zimbabwe, as well as AIDS information sites that I have found particularly interesting.  There is also a link to TEAM, the organization with which I am working.

Those of you who know me well, know of my passion for HIV and AIDS education.  I have been a part of various AIDS education, awareness and promotion programs at school and in Toronto for the past four years.  On this mission to Africa, I hope to be able to further develop education and awareness programs in the High Schools of Harare, as well as being involved in education programs at TEAM’s Karanda Mission Hospital, in Northern Zimbabwe.

My motivation is in God.  He is the sole provider and inspiration for all that I do in my life. For complicated and irrelevant political and economic reasons, there are millions of Africans suffering through life afflicted by AIDS.  Although God did not create humans to suffer and die needlessly, the number of people dying of AIDS climbs by the millions each year.  My hope is that through increased education and health care, people can be protected from this vicious disease.  I have seen encouraging results in my AIDS education involvement in Toronto, and I am confidant that God will work through me to have a positive effect on the AIDS education programs in Zimbabwe!
